Buick May Get New Logo

Automaker logos, while they may be very important for a company’s tradition and historic value are often changed nowadays, to go along with some sort of ‘refresh’ of the range, or just to keep them looking fresh and modern, while still keeping the essence intact.

After having finished their comprehensive model overhaul of Buick, General Motors may also be changing the logo, as well. The Detroit Free Press says that GM’s North America President, Mark Reuss suggested that the three-shield logo would be altered, yet did not offer any details on how they would go about doing this.

If you take a look at what Peugeot and Citroen have done with their logos, you can kind of get an idea what Buick might do with theirs – it will be rounded off, stylized and just made to look more modern, in order to better match the brand’s newly-polished image.

2013 GMC Terrain Denali to start at $34,525*

2013 GMC Terrain Denali to start at $34,525*
GMC has broadened its blinged-out Denali line to include the smaller Terrain crossover for the 2013 model year. We're getting our first stint behind the wheel of the Denali-fied Terrain this week, and while we'll have our full report ready in the not-too-distant future, we can share this bit of news right now: The newest member of the Terrain family will officially be priced from $34,525 – not including (*)$825 for destination – when it goes on sale in the third quarter of this year.

That coin will get you a Denali with GM's well-received 2.4-liter inline-four and front-wheel drive, and this top-shelf Terrain comes standard with things like GMC's Intellilink infotainment system, a programmable power liftgate, an eight-way power driver's seat and new dual-flow dampers for the front suspension. All-wheel drive can be had for an additional $1,750.

The big change for the 2013 Denali model is the availability of GM's 301-horsepower direct-injected 3.6-liter V6, available with both front- and all-wheel drive. Opting for the V6 will cost you $1,500, though that price also includes an upgrade to 19-inch chrome clad wheels versus the standard 18-inch rollers.

2013 GMC Terrain Denali Priced from $35,350

Suite of advanced safety and technology features standard on luxury small SUV

DETROIT – GMC today announced pricing for the Terrain Denali, a luxury small SUV that goes on sale in the third quarter of this year. With the longest list of advanced safety features ever for a GMC, a fuel-efficient 2.4L I-4 and front-wheel drive, the Terrain Denali will cost $35,350, including an $825 destination charge.

Optional all-wheel drive raises the base price to $37,100, while a V-6 can be paired with either drivetrain for an additional $1,500. New for 2013, Terrain's 3.6L V-6 uses direct injection and continuously variable valve timing to produce a class-leading 301 horsepower, as well as improved torque for stronger passing and towing performance. The cost of the V-6 also includes an upgrade from 18- to 19-inch chrome-clad wheels.

Terrain Denali's standard safety systems include forward collision alert and lane departure warning, as well as Denali-exclusive side blind zone and rear cross traffic alert.

Forward collision alert and lane departure warning use the industry's first single-camera crash- avoidance system to visually and audibly warn drivers when a collision is imminent or the vehicle crosses a lane marker without a turn signal engaged.

Side blind zone and rear cross traffic alert help avoid collisions by using radar to watch spots the driver may not be able to see – and provide visible and audible warnings. When another vehicle is in the Terrain's blind zone, a yellow icon is illuminated on either side view mirror. Rear cross traffic alert displays warnings on the in-cabin connectivity screen, which also displays footage from Terrain's standard rear view camera.

Along with unique exterior and interior styling, the Denali model's standard features include luxuries not offered on any other Terrain model, including an eight-way power front passenger seat and the added comfort of dual-flow dampers for the front suspension.

Other standard technology and convenience features include Intellilink, GMC's voice-controlled infotainment system with Bluetooth smartphone integration and apps like Pandora and Stitcher Smart Radio, a programmable power lift gate, and Homelink integrated garage door opener controls.

With so many standard features, Terrain Denali's options list is short. A trailering package, the aforementioned 3.6L V-6, Color Touch Navigation, and organization accessories like a rear cargo cover, a cargo convenience net and luggage crossbars are available at additional cost.

GMC has manufactured trucks since 1902, and is one of the industry's healthiest brands. Innovation and engineering excellence is built into all GMC vehicles and the brand is evolving to offer more fuel-efficient trucks and crossovers, including the Terrain small SUV and Acadia crossover. GMC is the only manufacturer to offer three full-size hybrid trucks with the Yukon, Yukon Denali SUVs and the Sierra pickup. The new Sierra Heavy Duty pickups are the most capable and powerful trucks in the market. GM to make Trax for Holden

In mid-May, General Motors announced it would bring the Chevrolet Trax to the Paris Motor Show this fall. The tiny crossover shares nearly everything with North America's Buick Encore and the previously revealed Opel/Vauxhall Mokka, but there's an important fourth variant we haven't heard about until today – one for Holden.

The General has now confirmed that the Trax will also be produced for its Australian outpost, with Holden's Director of Powertrain Engineering, Simon Cassin saying, "Holden is well recognised within the GM world for our expertise in engine and transmission calibration and we are very pleased to be involved in the development of this important vehicle."

The Holden Trax, which arrives in OZ next year, looks all but unchanged from the chunky cute ute version wearing a Bowtie. Judging by the newly released rendering shown above, everything from the headlamps to the side mirrors and fog lamp trim is unchanged. The only clear difference? Substituting the now-trademark split portal Chevrolet grille for a chrome-browed single frame unit wearing a prominent Holden badge.

GM's own data suggests that the small SUV segment continues to explode in Australia, just as it has here in North America, with sales up 57.3 percent year to date over 2011, and it's clearly aiming to take a piece of that growing pie with the new Trax.

Man Attacks GM Headquarters in His Chevrolet

Man Attacks GM Headquarters in His Chevrolet
General Motors’ headquarters in Detroit, the Renaissance Center, has seen some pretty interesting photos in its life, but yesterday was certainly an unusual day for the glass building, as this was assaulted by a mad man driving a Chevy.

It all started with a small crash, when the driver of a sixth-generation Chevrolet Monte Carlo wanted to turn his car in the circular driveway and touched the building in a light manner, creating a crack in the glass.

The man was waiting for the police to arrive in order to file a report and, according to local blogger Ferndale 115 (this is also where the adjacent photo comes from), he became agitated. The aforementioned source explains that a witness heard the driver telling the guard that “if he was going to jail for hitting the building that he may as well drive right through it..."

What came next? The man slammed the Monte Carlo against the revolving door, with the frame being affected, as well as multiple large glass areas being shattered. The police has taken the driver into custody and is investigating the matter.
