SEAT really needs a breath of fresh air and it seems that the company wants to grab this using the new generation of the Leon, which is expected to be launched early next year.
The vehicle will ride on the VW Group new MQB platfrom, which will be shared with the upcoming VW Golf VII and Audi A3 (8V), which means it will be lighter than the current generation. Under the bonnet, the architecture will allow the customers to choose between a multitude of petrol and diesel units, while in 2014 the carmaker is also expected to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the car.
The vehicle borrows multiple design features from the IBE Concept, which was introduced at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and it will probably only be offered as a five-door, just like the current model.
We don;t know if a new model alone can bring SEAT up, but if the company improves the quality of the interior and comes with more competitive pricing, it does have a chance of attracting more buyers.
