Audi Showcases A3 E-Tron Colorado-Based Pilot Project

Audi of America have recently uploaded a video detailing their A3 E-Tron pilot project. It involves members of their staff driving the all-electric A3, using and integrating it into their daily lives as best they can. This is a good idea, as they work for Audi and their feedback will reach the manufacturer much easier than it would if the cars would have been given to the general public.

As Audi, like most other manufacturers, is planning on introducing plug-ins and EVs to the US market in the not too distant future, this project will allow them to gather data and see whether the electric A3 is up to the task of being a daily driver for the average US consumer. With a charge range of around 150km (90miles) and maximum power of 130 hp, the car is more than adequate when compared to other similar cars, being, if anything, a little more powerful than the current norm.

We really hope that they adopt the Focus EV strategy when it comes to the badging of the production version of the A3 E-Tron, as the current version really looks good with its special rims and body identical to conventionally powered versions, because people should genuinely buy EVs to contribute to ‘saving the world’, instead of buying them to show off, and the Audi is a perfect candidate for that, as a more upmarket alternative for the very good looking electric Ford Focus.
