BMW Trademark Filings Reveal Tens of New Vehicles
BMW is on a roll right now, and there are only a few models that have fallen below their expectation. So its reasonable to expect that their R&M money is piling up. But we certainly didn’t expect the number of new cars that BMW is thinking about to be so high.

Getting straight to the point, the German automaker has trademarked so many names of potential models that it beggars belief. According to BMW Blog, this does not necessarily mean that all these cars will become reality, just that they want to protect their names should they decide to give them the green light.

Series filings were made for a number of ranges: E1 to E9 indicating electric mobility vehicle or compact cars (the E10 was an limited production EV), the whole ‘i’ range from i1 to i9, together with new SUVs and M cars.

BMW has also trademarked the M1, M2, M7 and M10, which indicate there’s also a new flagship coming. A number of M Sport cars were also trademarked, namely the M35, M40, M55, M300, M350, M400, M500, M130, M135, M140, M230, M235, M240, M330, M335, M340, M430, M435, M440, M450, M550, M650, M750, M50d.

Basically, this sound like BMW will offer up the same suspension and setup as you would get the real M cars on their regular models but without the big engine.

Also worth speculating is the return of the Z8, a stylish car designed by Henrik Fisker which created quite a following but never really sold in the expected numbers.

Also on the list of trademarked cars are the X2 and X4, both of which are expected within the few years, slotting into the range as coupe-like lifestyle SUVs.
