The 2013 Ford F-150

Earning numerous awards and the title “America’s best-selling vehicle” for months on end, the Ford F-Series Pickup has been so successful as of late that a revamp seems almost unnecessary.  Even still, the folks at the Blue Oval perhaps deemed their the truck “just” great instead of “utterly” great and thus, a model year change-up is on its way.  When the 2013 F-150 hits the streets and whatever else in between, it will do so with the added confidence of a new face, new technology and the same rock-solid toughness the American public has grown to love.

“The 2013 F-150 demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving our trucks with new features and capabilities, allowing F-Series owners to be increasingly productive,” said Mark Fields, Ford president of The Americas.  The 2013 revamp consists of two major aspects: the front end design and the interior controls.  First up, the F-150′s new face isn’t exactly “game changing” as the overall style is very similar to the 2012 pickup.  Ford still wants the F-Series to be easily recognized so even though the big grille bars remain, they have been widened and stretched to offer a bolder look.  To accent the tough new grille, HID projector headlamps have been fitted inside each “L” shaped light housing.  Combined with new 18 and 20 inch wheels, new trim packages and new colors, the subtle changes make the 2013 F-150 truly handsome.
Inside, the updates continue as new for the model year is the addition of Sync voice activation on different trims.  Now standard on XLT levels and above, the systems can be paired with a new 4.2 inch LCD center-stack screen with updated controls for the climate and stereo.  Centered in the gauge cluster is a new, secondary 4.2 inch LCD screen that displays setup, trip computer, fuel economy as well as towing and off-road applications.  When outfitted as a Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum or Limited, the F-150 can receive the added technology of MyFord Touch.  Centered around a 8-inch touchscreen, the system is paired with Sync voice technology so a wealth of control options can be available to drivers.  A media hub with auxiliary jacks, USB and SD car inputs joins the system to allow for even more information variety.
Mechanically, the 2013 F-150 is unchanged but still tough as nails.  A total of four engines are offered, each paired to Ford’s own six speed automatic transmission.  From the base, 3.7 liter naturally aspirated V6, the stump pulling top-dog 6.2 liter V8 to the innovative 3.5 liter twin turbocharged EcoBoost V6, each powerplant comes with its own charms and high points.  With so many different variations and options, any type of buyer can pick out a 2013 F-150 that is tailored just for them.
